Our Year 10 students completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award preparation tasks for their upcoming Adventure Journey Expeditions last weekend.
Between Friday 14th and Saturday 15th February, the Year 10 students participating in the Bronze Award completed their Adventure Journey Preparation tasks. On the Friday, they went through maps skills, orienteering, putting up tents, cooking a meal with a small camping stove and slept in their tents overnight at school.
On the Saturday they did a First Aid course and a session on advice about equipment to bring on hiking / camping trips. The above experiences will help prepare the students for the Practice expedition in April and the Qualifying expedition in June.
A big thank you to Mr Kulali, Mr Coffey and Mrs Kaltenpoth for assisting with the weekend activities.
Mr Nick Bourne
