Dear Parents,

What a joy it was to see so many of you at our 15-Year Anniversary launch yesterday! Thank you to everyone that joined us and to the parents and alumni that shared their stories with us.

Weekly Highlights 07/11/2025 - Weekly Highlights 07 11 2025

BVIS is truly a school that cares and hearing from our alumni about how they are flourishing due to the support, encouragement and sense of community that BVIS offers makes us very proud and excited for what the next 15 years will bring.

Yesterday was just the beginning of our 15-year anniversary celebrations. In the spring we will be inviting our BVS community to even more events and we hope that many of you will join us.

Next week our school photographs for all students will be taken. Individual and class / form tutor groups photographs will also be taken. An e-mail was sent to you about this last week.  Please ensure but your children are wearing the correct uniform and looking smart for their photos. We are using a new company this year, Picture Perfect and they promise to deliver excellent photographs at a reasonable cost. They have worked with many international schools both here and in Hanoi and we are confident they will do a great job for our BVIS community.

Weekly Highlights 29/08/2025 - Weekly Highlights 29 08 2025

We had an exciting week that truly showcased our students’ enthusiasm for learning and the strength of our community. Monday saw a lovely class assembly from 2B that showed what the children have been learning in their transport topic. On Tuesday we had our final Project Curiosity sessions with Year 4 taking the lead on sharing their projects with parents, teachers and fellow students. There were wonderful projects ranging from a focus on opera and magnetics to bikes and rice painting; our students discovering new passions! At the same time, our workshop for EYFS parents on Healthy Eating and Dental Hygiene was a great success with information I wish I had received when my sone was young.

Towards the end of the week, we launched our 15th Anniversary celebrations - a significant milestone for the school. Thank you to all parents who came along to share the story of the school and hear from our alumni.

We ended this great week with an assembly from Year 6 followed by the formal opening and naming of our playground climbing zone... the ‘Rope Rừng!’ Our Student Council led on this; they had name suggestions from students and then everyone voted. Well done to our Student Council.

Community Spirit in Action!

Last week, our incredible Community students showcased their creativity and teamwork by planning and organising a fundraising game during the Halloween event to support our community partner schools. Thanks to their efforts, we successfully raised 11,500,000 VND!

With the funds, we were able to donate to two wonderful schools: Rang Dong School (Center for Inclusive Development, Binh Chanh) and Hope School (School for Deaf and Children with Disabilities). The donations included:

• 11 sets of Chân Trời Sáng Tạo books for Year 3, 4, and 5 students
• 20 boxes of crackers for Hope School
• 12 boxes of milk for Rang Dong School
• 12 boxes of noodles

On Friday, with Friends of BVIS parents, we visited both schools to personally deliver the donations. We highly appreciate all the parents and students who got involved in the game. Your support made this initiative truly meaningful for the children in our partner schools.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!

Project Curiosity Showcase – Year 4

What a wonderful Tuesday morning we had celebrating Year 4 Project Curiosity presentations! Following the success of last month’s guided team presentation, this time each child took the lead individually. We are so proud of how confidently they shared their passions, explored their own interests, and celebrated their learning.

This project is designed to nurture life-long learners and researchers, giving children the chance to build independence, curiosity, and pride in their achievements. A huge thank you to all parents for your continued support at home—it truly makes a difference in helping our children grow and shine!

Harnessing AI at BVIS – Supporting, not replacing, great teaching

Artificial intelligence has become one of those topics that everyone wants to talk about, and with good reason. It’s already influencing how we work, think, and learn. In our school, it brings exciting possibilities, but also important responsibilities.

AI can help us save time on routine tasks, give students more personalised feedback, and allow creative ways to explore new ideas. Used wisely, it can strengthen what teachers already do so well, helping each child reach their potential.

But it’s equally important to remember what AI can’t do. It can’t notice when a student looks unsure, share a smile of encouragement, or spark curiosity through a great question. Those moments of connection are uniquely human, and they remain at the heart of learning.

Our role as educators at BVIS is to harness AI carefully, to use it as a tool that supports great teaching rather than replaces it. We want our students to understand this balance too: technology is powerful, but it’s their empathy, imagination, and integrity that will help them create their future.

6th Form Update

Sixth Form Challenge: Turning Trash into High Fashion

Over the past week, our Year 12 and 13 students took on a creative and collaborative challenge that transformed our Sixth Form common area into a runway of innovation. Working together in their form groups, students were set a unique task: design and construct a high-fashion outfit using only two bin (trash) bags.

These fun and imaginative challenges are designed not only to encourage teamwork and creativity, but also to help relieve some of the pressures of examination stress, giving students a chance to reset and recharge in a positive, low-stakes environment.

With just a limited set of materials and an unlimited supply of imagination, each form pulled together to brainstorm, design, and produce striking garments that showcased their artistic flair, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The results were nothing short of spectacular. From classic couture silhouettes to avant-garde statement pieces, the “trash bags” were reborn as runway-ready fashion.

The challenge culminated in a lively fashion show, with student models taking to the catwalk to show off their group’s creations. Judges were impressed not just by the creativity and polish of the final outfits, but also by the energy, cooperation, and humour that each form brought to the activity.

This inspiring project reminded us all that collaboration can turn even the simplest materials into something extraordinary – and that with teamwork, even a bin bag can become a masterpiece.
